[Journey to the West + Game of Thrones + post-apocalyptic wasteland + multiple perspectives and ensemble cast + no System. The opening story of the Xuanyang Universe, a new IP spun off from the Qianyuan Yunshan universe.]
In the 843rd year of the Xuanyang Era, Claw Peak exploded.
The eleventh person emerged from the stone. The first ten had all died. Count Mingkuang had waited five hundred years for them. Every fifty years, he had handed one over to the king and sent them to the world of Na'er in search of the Xuanyang Score, a musical score said to be capable of resolving the dispute over the Sel language and ending all wars in the world of Xuanyang. Ten times, there had been no word.
This time was different. The stone didn’t crack open; it exploded. Mingkuang didn’t hand him over to the king. He taught him to walk, talk, and read, and how to bake steamed buns. Then he said, “It’s time for you to go.”
Mi Yuesheng. The name Mingkuang gave him. He didn’t know why he had to leave, where the world of Na'er was, or what the Xuanyang Score was. He only knew that his master had been playing chess beneath the tower for three thousand years, waiting for him.
He would cross the Xuanyang Sea, pass through the slave markets of Yikpengshi and the commune outposts of the Melan Continent, and skirt the observer towers of the Fox Empire, bound for a shore from which no one had ever returned. He didn’t know who he would meet along the way. But he would meet them. Some would travel with him for a while, some would share a few words, and some would take a blade for him. Some would stay behind, and some would leave first.
He didn’t know why he had to go. But he went.
Too much imagination, the author
Thumbs up and likes.
