Great Tang: Dad’s Corrupt, I Donate, Turning Him into a Sage the Other Way Around

In his previous life, the powerful official Heshen transmigrates into the body of a low-ranking official during the Zhenguan era of the Tang dynasty.

Having learned his lesson the hard way, Lord He swears: "This time, I’ll take my bribes more discreetly and rake in far more!"

But his son, He Ping'an, who has just turned three, has the soul of a modern overworked wage slave and is bound to the [Myriad Household Merit System].

When He Shen embezzles one tael of silver, He Ping'an turns around and buys ten big steamed buns for disaster victims.

When He Shen extorts a powerful clan, He Ping'an promptly donates all the land deeds to a school.

When He Shen plans to copy a few of Nalan Xingde’s poems to make a name for himself and smooth the way, He Ping'an has them carved onto a monument to good deeds, signed: He Shen, the Tang dynasty’s Most Upright Official.

He Shen: "You little rascal! Stop! That’s the retirement money your father worked so hard to embezzle!"

He Ping'an: "Father, stop taking bribes. If you keep it up, Li Shimin will hand you the throne!"

Li Shimin: "Minister He is so poor he can barely afford meat. He spends all his money building bridges and repairing roads. He is truly the backbone of my court and a sage of the Tang dynasty!"

Wei Zheng: "I misjudged Lord He. He is the one who truly cares for the country and its people. I’d gladly lead his horse and carry his stirrups!"

Standing before the Hall of Supreme Harmony, surrounded by the people’s admiration and the emperor’s favor, with power over the entire court, He Shen finally breaks down.

"I really… just wanted to be a corrupt official!"
