Journey to the West: I Am the Divine Judge of Justice, Who Dares Lay a Hand on My Brother Monkey?

After transmigrating to Honghuang, I became an immortal stone on Flower-Fruit Mountain, right next door to the future Sun Wukong, who would wreak Havoc in Heaven.

When I saw the little monkey who had just jumped out of a rock reach out to me with his furry little hands, crying for food, my heart melted.

To hell with the Great Sage Equal to Heaven. To hell with the Victorious Fighting Buddha!

Why should the little one I raised be manipulated by you, made to wear that ridiculous golden headband, and stripped of his pride?

To protect him, I planned every step, threw myself into tribulations, took charge of the laws of heaven, and became the most impartial and unfeeling Judicial Deity in the Three Realms!

The gods and Buddhas say he’s born unruly? I say he’s innocent and carefree!

The Heavenly Court calls him lawless? I say he’s simply doing as he pleases!

Guanyin wants to put the tightening spell on him? Let’s see if the laws of heaven in my hands agree!

The Tathagata wants to pin him beneath Five-Finger Mountain? Try laying a finger on a single hair of his!

I, Li Chang Geng, have only one wish in this life:

May my little monkey always be that Great Sage Equal to Heaven who is… lawless, yet smiles at me!
