Officialdom: I’m Reborn, and You Still Think You Can Take Me On?

I spent ten years grinding away at the grassroots level. I watched countless people come and go, treating this place as a stepping stone, polishing their résumés before flying off.

> They called me the “eternal clerk,” mocking me for having no connections, no ambition, and no future.

> Then a devastating fire exposed a massive hole in the poverty-relief funds. While everyone else was figuring out how to cover it up, I, the supposedly hopeless old workhorse, walked into the inspection team’s base carrying copies of every ledger from the past ten years.

> Only then did they realize that over those ten years, I had kept records not only of the accounts, but of people’s true nature.

> A leader asked me what I was after.

> I said, “A clear conscience, and an end to the grievances suffered by the people of this land.”

Reborn, I don’t want to fight. But if you insist on a fight

Then I’ll play along to the very end.
