Siheyuan: Transmigrated as Silly Zhu, I Marry Lou Xiao'e First

What does it mean to have your soul transmigrate into a courtyard home? In 1955, He Yuzhu becomes a twenty-year-old living in a shabby, rundown household. The people in the courtyard take advantage of him, and he is forced to become Yi Zhonghai's muscle.

Fortunately, his superb cooking impresses Lou Zhenhua, who hires him to cook at his estate for a hefty salary.

He seizes the opportunity without hesitation. In this life, he won't fawn over Qin Huairu or let himself be taken for a fool. He starts by fighting back against the courtyard's nasty residents and bringing Lou Xiao'e home as his wife.

From then on, he embarks on a spectacular life journey, rising from a lowly level-one cook who could never get promoted to canteen shift leader, deputy director of logistics, Hong Kong ensemble dramas, back to the courtyard, deputy section chief of the administrative department, section chief, deputy factory director, and finally deputy section chief of logistics at the Bureau of Metallurgy!

In the office, Director Chen gets straight to the point:

“Comrade He Yuzhu, the organization is considering transferring you to the Service Bureau under the Ministry of Metallurgy, where you'll be in charge of the canteen and logistical reception. Are you willing?”

He Yuzhu is stunned. As a cook from a courtyard home, he'd never dared dream of working somewhere like that.

He Yuzhu stands up straight. “I will follow the assignment!”

Elder Yi Zhonghai manages to stammer out after a long pause:

“Zhuzi... are you going to become a big official?”

Liu Haizhong, the second elder, has always been obsessed with becoming an official. Now his face is a mix of envy and bitterness.
