Slay the Gods: I Almost Drew the Great Sage Equal to Heaven Thanks to My Luck

Synopsis of Night Rain, Severed Lantern

Ancient clans from beyond the world lay hidden in the void. To devour the human world, they sent out scouts called Observers and set the Giant Lantern Plan in motion. Using the consciousness of ordinary people in multiple cities as wicks, they forged a lantern spanning the entire region, hoping to tear open the world's barrier and usher in an invading army from beyond.

Lin Qiye, a young Night Watcher, bore the power of the night. His mind already contained a personality fracture that could never fully heal. First, he crushed puppets and strange creatures such as the Lantern Bearer and the Wayfarer in Cangnan. Then he ventured alone underground, struck the Giant Lantern with a single slash, and forced the Observer to retreat.

But this was only a test by the ancient clans. The Observer's remnants of origin gave rise to Layered Floating Corpses, creatures that could stabilize the fracture and specifically target the depths of Lin Qiye's mind. Lin Qiye struck again, severing the spatial parasitic nodes and sealing off the passage to the layered realm.

After the battle, the Night Watchers' headquarters unlocked sealed confidential files, and the truth finally came to light: the Observer and the Layered Floating Corpses were merely advance scouts for the ancient clans. Their awakening followed a complete invasion sequence. The scouting phase was already over, and a higher-level invasion was imminent. The ancient clans beyond the world had also committed to memory the name of Lin Qiye, the one who could shatter their plans.

Night Watchers across the country were urgently reorganized, and the entire nation prepared its defenses. Lin Qiye chose to stand at the very front of the line, wielding the night as his blade and making his body the boundary. Alone, he faced the eternal darkness about to engulf the human world, guarding the countless lights burning in its homes.
