Honghuang: I'm a Tortoise Laying Low in the Jie Sect, Outlasting the Sages of All Heaven

[Honghuang] [The Way of Caution] [Investiture of the Gods] [play the pig to eat the tiger] [Decisive and ruthless]

I, Guichen, am a lowly black tortoise who has only just taken human form on the Three Immortal Islands. My daily job is to lie on the beach and bask in the sun, while keeping watch over Fairy Yunxiao’s cultivation grounds.

I never imagined the Investiture of the Gods tribulation was imminent, with the Jie Sect facing total annihilation.

I planned to pack my things and sneak away, but Yunxiao grabbed me and made me her mountain-guarding divine beast.

The Twelve Golden Immortals of Chan Sect are attacking? Guangchengzi is bringing out the Heaven-Overturning Seal?

Sorry, but when that seal strikes the shell I inherited from the Black Tortoise, it doesn’t leave so much as a white mark!

Taishang Laojun’s Eight Trigrams Furnace wants to refine me? Great, I could use a sauna!

All I wanted was to keep a low profile and survive until the Investiture of the Gods tribulation was over, but there are always Chan Sect Disciples and bald monks from the Western Teachings foolish enough to try and boil me into soup.

Fine, I’ll come clean.

“On the Three Immortal Islands, you can call me Little Turtle. I won’t take offense. But once we leave the Eastern Sea, even the Twelve Golden Immortals will have to kneel before me and call me… Ancestor Guichen!”
