The General Who Came to My Door: After the Divorce, My Ex-Wife Begged to Remarry

On their wedding anniversary, Lu Zhan gets a divorce agreement.

“Three years, and you still can’t find a job. Are you even a man?”

He signs it.

At the entrance to the civil affairs bureau, a hundred soldiers kneel to welcome him. “We respectfully welcome the God of War back to his post!”

His ex-wife collapses to the ground.

He doesn’t even look back. His adjutant quietly reports, “Your daughter was abandoned three years ago. She’s in an orphanage now.”

That very night, his ex-wife’s new husband’s factory is reduced to ashes.

He holds his frail, emaciated daughter in his arms, then turns around and marries his ex-wife’s younger sister, who had been sent as a substitute bride.

At the wedding, she says with tear-filled eyes, “I know you married me to get revenge, but I don’t care.”

Later, when a kidnapper presses a gun to her forehead, she shields his daughter with her own body.

Later, when his ex-wife gets out of prison and begs to get back together, she hands her a check. “Sister, this is the last time I’ll help you.”

Later, at their grand wedding, a hundred thousand soldiers send their blessings.

Outside, his ex-wife pounds on the banquet hall doors like a madwoman.

Inside, the guests raise their glasses and laugh. Not one of them hears her.

Some doors, once shut, will never open again.
