The Phoenix Cries Across the Nine Heavens: Empresses in the Palace

With a single palace selection, Zhen Huan stepped into the man-eating Forbidden City.

She had meant to keep a low profile, avoid favor, and live in peace. Instead, she was trampled into the dirt, bullied, humiliated, and her family was harmed.

Gentleness could not win her a way to survive, kindness could not protect her loved ones, and even her love became a blade turned against her.

After a year in the Cold Palace, she returned through fire.

The gentle, innocent Zhen Huan was dead. The one who survived was a ruthless avenger, plotting every move.

She battled Consort Hua, eliminated Lady Yu, tore An Lingrong apart, and settled accounts with the Guwalgiya clan;

She wielded human hearts, gathered power, forsook love, and claimed authority for herself.

The emperor who had once betrayed her, she met with cold indifference;

The enemies who had once harmed her, she repaid in blood.

From a lowly palace attendant to Noble Consort Xi, and at last to the sole, supreme Empress Dowager,

she crossed mountains of corpses and seas of bones, tore through layers of conspiracy, and threw the Forbidden City into turmoil.

She would not be a caged bird, but a phoenix soaring to the heavens;

She sought no imperial favor, only the power to command all under heaven.

This harem, this realm, this fate...

I, Zhen Huan, will have the final say!
