Breakout on the Snowline

In the winter of 1941, heavy snow sealed off the mountains, plunging the entire Greater Khingan Range into a frozen hell where temperatures fell to thirty degrees below zero. An Allied transport plane mysteriously crashed in a blizzard, deep in uninhabited territory. Its cargo included not only the Allies’ latest cipher machine, capable of turning the tide of war, but also a top-secret document that terrified the Japanese high command: a map marking the locations of major Japanese germ and chemical warfare sites across the Far East.

To cover up their crimes and recover the document, the Japanese North China Area Army stopped at nothing, sending its elite mountain-tracking unit, the Winter Wolf Battalion, to conduct a sweeping manhunt. The surviving nurse, Bai Zhi, clung desperately to the iron case containing the secret documents. At her most desperate moment, Lu Dingshan, a former company commander in a Northeast garrison battalion who happened to be patrolling the mountains, rescued her.

As the scattered resistance fighters and civilians gradually gathered around them, including the hunter Yanzi, machine gunner Tie Niu, and folk genius Chen Suanpan, a makeshift five-person team took shape amid the snowy forests. They had no supplies and no reinforcements, only endless wind and snow and bloodthirsty jackals hot on their heels.

With little food and clothing, they laid traps and stripped the enemy of their winter coats. When their ammunition and provisions ran out, they used primitive methods to make gunpowder! This was an extreme escort mission across a thousand miles of snowfields, and a desperate struggle for survival against impossible odds. Even if they fought to the last person, even if their blood and bones stained the mountains, they would get this secret, capable of saving millions of lives, beyond the snow line and let the light of dawn shine upon this frozen land!
