Report a Murder for a Reduced Sentence: The One Making All the Reports Is the Culprit Himself

The Balihé Police Station in Chuncheng had been at the bottom of the rankings for years, and Station Chief Zhao Zhihua was chewed out by the city bureau every day until he could barely hold his head up. Then they took in Yin Huang: A “chosen one of an employee,” who had been on the job for seven days, earned two promotions, and already had two first-class merits. Other police officers solved cases by staking out suspects, following them, and pulling all-nighters until coffee cups piled up like mountains. Yin Huang solved cases by buying breakfast and having a suspect walk right into him; by going to the bank to withdraw money and having a robber pull out a weapon on his own; by asking two questions in an interrogation and getting the suspect to confess to stealing corn as a kid. Suspect Li Dong: “I swear, it was only this once!” Three minutes later: “I was involved in other cases too. The body is buried in the woods south of the city.” Suspect Xie Song: “I want to report an old case!” Two days later: “I'm the killer. The evidence is conclusive.” The whole internet was laughing hysterically: “Someone should look into this guy. Suspects automatically start confessing when they see him.” “Is he a police officer or a human recording device?” “He went from intern to legend in just seven days!” Zhao Zhihua: “He's my apprentice! I trained him myself!” Zhang Yan: “You took him out for breakfast, and he came back having solved a major case.” Zhao Zhihua: “...That still counts as training!” Now Yin Huang had been sent to the West Station to catch pickpockets. Old Li from the anti-pickpocketing squad: “Twelve of us stake out for ten days and catch five. You catch five in a week?” Zhao Zhihua: “If he doesn't catch them, I'll buy him milk tea. If he does, I'll call him big brother in front of everyone!” Yin Huang: “Master, I just want a normal onboarding experience...”
