Neon Corpse Whispers

The neon-lit city never runs short of the bizarre. A suicide note bears handwriting that doesn't belong to its author. The blood trails of missing people form eerie symbols in the blind spots of surveillance cameras. And the bodies in the morgue always change position at three in the morning.

Detective Lin Jiang has barely transferred in when he is thrown into a string of murders. Each victim has a neon tube stuck in their throat, and strange symbols reflected in their pupils. As his investigation deepens, he discovers that every victim had come into contact with a forbidden book called Corpse Speech. Someone is carefully recreating the taboo ritual described within, “letting the dead speak through their corpses.”

When forensic examiner Su Ning finds fluorescent dye beneath the victims' skin, and a mysterious informant sends a warning in Morse code, “Neon is corpse-fire,” Lin Jiang finally realizes the truth: the city's neon lights aren't powered by electricity at all. They are the resentment of countless unjustly dead, speaking the truth on behalf of the killer.
