Zhang Jiao, General of Heaven

In the second century AD, during the dark days of the Eastern Han, human lives were worth no more than grass.

A man who had watched his wife and children die found a heavenly text in the mountains, one that should never have existed.

He was no hero, just a farmer who knew how to use herbs.

Until the day he was forced to watch starving refugees claw at one another for a mouthful of food in a "game" in the imperial gardens

Zhang Jiao burned his last talisman for healing and saw three words in the flames: Way of Great Peace.

"The Azure Heaven is dead."

This secret phrase spread like wildfire across the eight provinces. The talisman water healed more than just the sick: it also revived the hearts of millions trampled into the dirt.

Thirty-six factions secretly joined forces. The farmers who had wrapped their heads in yellow scarves put down their hoes and picked up sharpened wooden clubs.

But the eunuchs in Luoyang laughed. In their eyes, this was just another "refugee uprising" waiting to be crushed.

But they were wrong.

When an informant's blood stained the execution ground in Luoyang, the uprising broke out ahead of schedule.

Wheat fields became battlefields, farming tools clashed with iron armor, and hungry cries drowned out the neighing of warhorses.

Zhang Jiao was no longer the gentle healer. He was the "General of Heaven"

But could he really control the power he had unleashed with his own hands?

Within the movement, idealists and avengers were divided and at odds. Outside, the ruthless general Huangfu Song had already built a tight encirclement.

Worse still, his former disciple Tang Zhou was leading imperial troops closer and closer to the Way of Great Peace's innermost secrets...

And what no one knew was this:

The final page of the Book of Great Peace's Essential Arts foretold an ending that even Zhang Jiao had never predicted.

This was a war destined to fail: the Yellow Turban Rebellion.
