Chasing the Deadbeat King: I Nailed Shuyang's Deadbeats to the Pillory of Shame

Zhang Yuxuan, once the queen of Shuyang’s building materials trade, was swindled out of her entire fortune, worth tens of millions, by a gang of fifty unemployed drifters, gamblers, and deadbeat debtors. Overnight, she fell from the clouds into the mud. Giving up on the legal route, she became the “Debt-Collecting King of Hell Who Crawled Back from the Underworld,” using a thousand wildly inventive methods to deal with deadbeats: playing their arrogant boasts on repeat at a casino, setting up a stall at the morning market to expose their fake poverty, and plastering their shameless flyers all over a beauty salon.

Her debt-collection campaign is full of hilarious and deeply satisfying moments: she corners a deadbeat with a BMW at a barbecue stall and uses catchy lyrics to humiliate him; pins a malingering debtor in his rental apartment and exposes his lies with luxury shopping records; and traps a violent deadbeat in a mahjong parlor, using evidence of his crimes to make him pay up. As she digs deeper, she discovers that the deadbeats are backed by an even larger fraud ring, and that there are secrets surrounding her own origins. In the end, Zhang Yuxuan not only recovers the tens of millions owed to her, but also nails every deadbeat to Shuyang’s pillar of shame, becoming the locally feared “Debt-Collecting King of Hell.”
