Love Through the Years on a Rainy Night

On a rainy day in 2004, fifteen-year-old Xu Xiaozhi meets transfer student Su Wanwan during morning reading. Her bright eyes steal into his heart, and from then on, his budding feelings grow wild amid the chalk dust of the classroom. He braves the rain to bring her an umbrella, gladly taking a beating from his father for it; she quietly gives him hints during dictation and offers him silent support on a misty mountain road. Glances across the basketball court, notes in exercise books, and promises as sweet as cotton candy bind their youth together.

But life is never all sweetness. The ups and downs of Su Wanwan's parents' business conceal pressures she never speaks of, while Xu Xiaozhi's awkward attempts to protect her are tangled up with a teenager's sensitivities. From school uniforms to suits, from classrooms to the workplace, they stand side by side through the years, yet stumble against reality. Misunderstandings creep in like moss during the rainy season, and choices split before them like diverging roads. The flutter of their hearts beneath that umbrella and the support they gave each other in the mountains must eventually withstand the storms of adulthood.

This is a long journey spanning youth and working life, with blushing heartbeats between desks, warmth shared in a rented apartment, and near misses in the conference room. When the rain falls again, will they still recognize the first light in each other's eyes? The bittersweet feelings hidden in the folds of time will, when they look back, finally brew into the most moving answer.
