Does Invincibility Require a Kind Heart? I Turned Dark, Sold My Kindness, and Became a Demon Emperor

My name is Ling Buyi. I was once the most “benevolent” man in the martial world.

I helped those in need, gave away my entire fortune, and firmly believed that “the benevolent are invincible” was the highest realm of martial arts.

Until one day, when the so-called Martial Alliance Leader, claiming it was for the greater good, had me bound to an altar to fend off an invasion by the Demon Cult. He planned to use my “heart of supreme benevolence” and my fervent blood to activate a so-called ancient formation.

I looked down at the people I had once rescued and the heroes I had once helped. They avoided my gaze, silently consenting to this absurd sacrifice.

In that moment, my “benevolent heart” died.

As I hovered on the brink of death, I awakened the Merit Trading System.

So a “benevolent heart” and “merit” could be quantified and traded!

What I once possessed was the most precious treasure in this world!

And so, I turned to evil.

The hypocritical alliance leader wanted the title of “benevolent one”? I sold him merit, making him a saint revered by all, then exposed his filthy heart with my own hands and ruined his reputation!

The murderous fiend wanted to turn over a new leaf? I gave him a benevolent heart, making him lay down his weapons and attain Buddhahood, then let his former enemies tear him to pieces!

I toyed with people’s hearts and traded in merit, turning the entire martial world into my chessboard.

They all thought the secret of the Mandarin Duck Blades was “the benevolent are invincible.” Only I knew the real secret: the benevolent are the easiest to sacrifice!

And I will become the Supreme Demon Emperor who sacrifices every hypocrite!
