Ye Bai's Return to the Dust

Consciousness drifted amid endless darkness and blood-red haze.

Ye Dingzhi, or perhaps Ye Yun, felt weightless, like a withered leaf torn from its branch. His final sensations were the icy touch at his neck, warm blood, and Baili Dongjun's heart-wrenching, wine-soaked sobs.

"Dongjun..." He wanted one last look at that face, always bright with an openhearted smile, but could only make out a blur of light and shadow.

His life began with the glory of a military family in Tianqi City and was ruined by a cold imperial decree. He was tossed about by conspiracies and assassins on the road to exile, struggled under the protection and sacrifice of his master in name and father in spirit, Yusheng Mo, sank into an unfulfilled obsession with Yi Wenjun, and ultimately went mad practicing the Void Thought Art of the Outer Heavens, dying amid the flames of the eastern campaign he had started.

It was all wrong. Every bit of it.

From the moment an improper desire took root in him in Yi Wenjun's courtyard, his life was like a runaway horse, galloping toward an abyss of ruin. He brought disaster upon the Ye family army, failed his master, dragged down the followers who had joined him in the Outer Heavens, and left Baili Dongjun, the one person who had truly cared for him and never once abandoned him, covered in wounds.

If only there were another life... If only there were another life!
