Hidden Gold

The day I was bound to the Wealth System, I learned that every cent was stained with blood.

When I bought my daughter a car seat, a high school student in a neighboring city jumped to their death.

When I invested in stocks to keep my mother alive, my benefactor’s father lost everything.

The System called it “happiness transfer”: when I got rich, someone else suffered.

When my relatives called me wasteful, my ex-husband tried to take my daughter, and the whole town laughed at me,

I gripped the radar that could reveal a list of “sinners.”

If money was always going to be stained with blood, then I would make sure it was shed for the right cause.

Until a mysterious man stopped me. “Every person you ‘save’ brings the System one step closer to devouring Earth.”

And I had just spent all my savings buying the lives of every villain in town.
