Her Crown: From Cast-Off Wife to Queen

On her thirty-fifth birthday, Lin Jingshu’s world fell apart. At her birthday banquet, her husband’s explicit messages with his mistress were projected for everyone to see, followed by an urgent call demanding payment for her critically ill mother’s treatment. After ten years of marriage, all she had to show for it was the threat of being thrown out with nothing, a rebellious daughter, and an exorbitant surgery bill.

Desperate, she took a food-delivery job. A fall shattered her knee and her illusions alike. In an old magazine propping up a table leg, she came across an interview with Gu Chen, her former senior from school and a business tycoon. “Architecture is dignity made tangible.” His words rekindled the last spark still burning in her.

She tore up the check her ex-husband had offered as charity and, weary but determined, stormed into Gu Chen’s company. “Mr. Gu, I need a job.” From being mocked by her coworkers as an “old lady” to stunning everyone by spotting a fatal flaw; from being framed by an anonymous letter and suspended to turning the tables in court; from founding her own studio to defeating an American giant in an international bid with her daughter’s drawing… She fought her way to the top and face-slapped everyone who had looked down on her.

When her ex-husband got down on his knees and begged her to take him back, she stood atop the city in a building of her own design. Gu Chen wrapped his arms around her from behind. “Jingshu, look. All the lights in this city are your stars.”

This is the legend of a woman who climbed out of the abyss, reclaimed her life, and became a beacon lighting the way for others.
