I Asked You to Run an Entertainment Company, So Why Is Everyone Taking the Civil Service Exam?

[Urban + showbiz + workplace reform + comedy + subverting expectations]

Shen Zheng transmigrates to a parallel world and, as the son of a prominent family, takes over an entertainment company on the verge of bankruptcy.

Other companies' talent shows: singing, dancing, good looks, and shipping couples.

Shen Zheng's company's talent show: political background checks, fitness tests, and essay exams!

A popular young actress wants to sign? Recite a hundred articles of the Criminal Law first!

A top-tier star wants to collaborate? Go through three months of military training first!

And then there's the downright absurd:

The crew doesn't pray to the gods before filming; everyone raises the flag and sings the national anthem.

When security catches paparazzi taking pictures, they turn around and present them with a commendation pennant.

Fans want to support their idols? Sorry, we only accept “Study Xi, Strengthen the Nation” points for the fan rankings!

At first, the whole internet mocked Shen Zheng as an “old fossil.”

But later...

An award-winning actor passes the civil service exam, a songstress joins the cultural troupe, and everything the company produces is a state-level serious drama!

Countless investors lose it: “Please stop raising the bar! At this rate, we'll all end up behind bars, working sewing machines!”

Shen Zheng holds his thermos, looking utterly innocent. “I just want to run the company like a well-regulated institution. What's wrong with that?”
