Back to 1955: My Life of Cashback

After waking up, modern office worker Wang Chao finds himself the grandson of the deputy director of a bamboo-ware factory in a small town in southern Jiangxi in 1955.

As he frets over his dirt-poor family and five younger sisters with sallow, gaunt faces, a prompt from the "Trade Rebate System" suddenly rings in his mind.

His "Thank you, Grandma" slips out before he can stop it, making his entire family look at him differently.

"This steamed pork is way better than takeout!" His remark at the dinner table makes even his grandfather quietly put down his chopsticks.

Under the kerosene lamp, faced with the suspicious scrutiny of his closest family, Wang Chao can only come clean: I'm from the future.

From then on, the Wang family has a secret they must never speak of.

Whenever his grandfather faces a problem, he quietly asks him: what lies ahead for the bamboo-ware factory?

Using the System, Wang Chao trades his first basket of eggs for malted milk powder, giving his sisters a chance to drink the sweet "nutritious water."

To secure a proper job, his whole family grits their teeth and pools their savings to get him a purchasing job at the county glass factory.

But someone at the bamboo-ware factory is secretly gathering evidence to bring down his grandfather.

On the black market, a pair of greedy eyes has fixed on his mysterious supply channels, and someone even reaches out to his younger sister on her way home from school...

On one side are the warm, everyday moments of food and family. He dotes on his sisters and improves his family's lives.

On the other is a dangerous world where trouble stirs beneath the surface. He navigates the workplace and the black market, protecting his family.

And the advanced blueprints, superior seeds, and rare metals occasionally returned by the System are quietly put to good use, in his own special way, gradually setting the wheels of history in motion.
