The Blood Debt Ledger

Lin Yan came home late one night after working overtime and found an unclaimed list in his entryway. Thinking someone had left it behind, he casually put it on the coffee table. The next morning, a name appeared on the list: “Zhang Jianguo.” Beside it was the accusation “stood by and did nothing while someone died.” That evening, the news reported that Zhang Jianguo had fallen to his death at a construction site. Before dying, he had struggled and shouted frantically, “I didn't mean to!” His death bore a striking resemblance to the gruesome fate of a victim in an accident at that same site years ago. A chill crept over Lin Yan.
