Hunter X Hunter: After Joining the Phantom Troupe

When both the evil you admire and the good you fear demand that you betray yourself. Xavier Winster, an information broker who can use his Nen Ability to glimpse afterimages of the past, made a choice that changed his life amid the bloody ruins of the Yorknew City auction: He walked willingly toward the Phantom Troupe. With his unique "Mirror Rewind" ability, Xavier offered intelligence as his pledge of loyalty and became the spider's thirteenth leg. His mission: track down and dismantle the Chain Killer and his companions, the boy named Gon Freecss and the Hunters at his side. From the card battles of Greed Island to the survival hell of the NGL Chimera Ants; from the undercurrents of the Black Whale Succession War to the unknown frontiers of the Dark Continent. Xavier weaves webs with lies and paves his way with betrayal, walking a tightrope between the Troupe's cruel aesthetic and the protagonists' pure convictions. He secretly alters the conditions of Gon's Nen Ability, drives a wedge between Gon and Killua, and delivers Chrollo detailed reports on every hunt. He thinks he is serving his masters, until he realizes: He has begun to look forward to Gon's smile when he finds a way through, to fear the look in Killua's eyes when he sees through a lie, and to envy Kurapika for finding a life beyond revenge. But the Phantom Troupe's spiders never accept a faded tattoo. As the Chain Killer's flames of vengeance and the shadow of the Dark Continent's truth draw near at once, Xavier must answer: Is he the spider's henchman, a traitor to the Hunters, or someone who found a third path between two kinds of madness: his own?
