Married and Trading Barbs: The Icy CEO Is Actually Falling for Her

Fu Yanci, the head of the Fu family in Jiangcheng, is aloof, ascetic, and ruthless. A formidable businessman who can turn the tide of the market with a flick of his wrist, he is also the most coveted bachelor among the actresses of the entertainment industry.

No one knows that this tycoon, who keeps his distance from women, secretly married an ordinary college student.

Jiang Zhinian is bold and straightforward, ready to take on the world. Forced to sign a secret marriage contract to save her gravely ill mother, she becomes, in Fu Yanci’s words, “a stand-in for someone from his past.”

On the first day they live together, she claims the living room sofa with her luggage. “Mr. Fu, the contract says we sleep in separate rooms. You can have the study.”

Fu Yanci’s expression turns cold. “The Fu family isn’t so poor that we’re short on rooms.”

Jiang Zhinian raises an eyebrow. “Afraid you won’t be able to control yourself? After all, I did get my face done to look like your first love.”

From then on, life in the Fu household is utter chaos.

He tries to throw his weight around as the boss, and she turns the tables with a little reverse psychological manipulation.

He tries to use the stand-in arrangement to keep her in line, and she gives him the cold shoulder and focuses on her career.

He secretly tries to show her some warmth, but she pretends not to notice, intent on earning enough money to leave and get a divorce.

Fu Yanci thought their marriage was just a transaction in which each got what they wanted. But day after day of bickering slowly makes him fall for her.

Watching Jiang Zhinian thrive in the fashion world, with admirers everywhere, Fu Yanci is consumed by jealousy. At last, he drops his aloof facade and corners her against a wall. “Jiang Zhinian, divorce? Not in this lifetime!”

Jiang Zhinian smiles, raising an eyebrow. “Mr. Fu, the contract has expired.”

Fu Yanci leans close, his voice hoarse. “Then let’s renew it. For the rest of our lives.”
