After Xiangyang fell, Yang Guo, Xiaolongnü, and Guo Fu retired to Peach Blossom Island. They named their son Yang Potian, expressing their determination to “shatter the darkness of the Mongol Yuan.” The couple passed on everything they knew, combining and innovating upon their lifelong martial arts to teach him the peerless and mighty Great Nine Heavens Palm and the essence of the Dugu Nine Swords, which specializes in exploiting an opponent’s weaknesses. Guo Fu also taught him strategy, martial prowess, and devotion to his country.

After ten years of arduous effort, Yang Dingtian destroyed the Vajra Sect, killed Master Kucha, and led the entire Ming Cult to the forefront of the fight against the Mongols. Kucha’s disciple Cheng Kun sought revenge for his master and sent his junior sister, Liu Xinru, to infiltrate Yang Dingtian’s inner circle and wait for a chance to strike. Liu Xinru poisoned Yi Wan, then became the new cult leader’s wife. Cheng Kun ordered Liu Xinru to repeat the trick and poison Yang Dingtian, but he never imagined that she would fall deeply in love with Yang Dingtian without even realizing it. In the secret passage beneath Bright Peak, Yang Dingtian caught his wife, Liu Xinru, in an affair with Cheng Kun. Overcome with grief and rage, he suffered a cultivation deviation and died, and the Ming Cult fell into disarray. His son, Yang Zhentian, later came of age and married Murong Zhi. They had a daughter, the future-famous Yellow-Clothed Maiden, Yang Yaoqin. Yang Zhentian entrusted his beloved daughter with overseeing the great mission of the Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber.
