Synopsis of The Legend of Xiao Feng: The God of War of Old Dies, the Sword Demon Is Born Today
Xiao Feng breaks his arrows and takes his own life at Yanmen Pass. But because his heart is on the right side of his chest, he survives, plunging over a cliff and being swept to its base by the raging waters. Abandoning his identity as Xiao Feng, he assumes the name Dugu Qiubai. Drawing on the swordsmanship taught to him by Xuanku and a lifetime of martial arts, he grasps the principle of anticipating an enemy's moves and creates the Nine Swords of Dugu.
Later, he finds meteoric iron and forges a sword weighing more than eighty jin. He trains with it amid mountain floods, then gains a tremendous boost to his inner power from snake gallbladders given to him by the Divine Condor, eventually reaching the realm of a heavy sword without a sharp edge. Once his mastery of the heavy sword is complete, he and the Divine Condor travel to the East Sea. There, he faces the raging waves with a wooden sword and realizes that anything, from plants and trees to bamboo and stone, can be a sword.
Meanwhile, Murong Bo pretends to return to Shaolin, steals the Yijin Jing, poisons and kills Sweeper Monk and Xiao Yuanshan, and takes control of Shaolin. Murong Fu feigns madness to obtain his ancestor's Dragon Origin Pill and the seventh level of the Shifting Stars technique. He kills Wu Changfeng to seize the Beggars' Guild, then conspires with his father and Ding Chunqiu, hoping to take the position of alliance leader at a martial arts gathering and restore Great Yan.
Duan Yu and Xu Zhu uncover the plot, rescue the poisoned Xuanci, and seek out Tu Wanjun as a witness. At the martial arts gathering, Murong Bo leads rebels in surrounding the righteous factions. Dugu Qiubai arrives with the Divine Condor and smashes through Murong Bo's protective wall of energy. Together with Duan Yu and Xu Zhu, he defeats the Murong clan, kills Murong Fu and Murong Bo, and captures Ding Chunqiu.
After the battle, Dugu Qiubai declines the position of alliance leader. He spends three years mourning on Mount Shaoshi, comprehending the realm of having no sword, then sets out to travel with the Divine Condor. At last, in a secluded valley, he carves the words Sword Tomb and buries four swords, leaving behind the legend that he sought defeat but could never find it. His legendary swordsmanship awaits its continuation by Yang Guo.
