Springtime in the Brocade Courtyard

Spring warms the apricot grove, but splendor turns to ash. After seven years away, she returns with deft hands that can turn the tide.

Seven years have passed. The capital is still the same city, yet everything has changed. The Shen family, once the foremost physicians of the Imperial Medical Academy, was wiped out over a royal secret. Only the orphaned Shen Qingyi survived, fleeing south in panic with her little brother.

Now she has returned as "Lady Shen," a renowned physician from Jiangnan, wielding silver needles with deft hands and a compassionate heart. Everyone says Lady Shen is a brilliant doctor with a mild, detached disposition. No one knows that behind her tranquil eyes burns a cold flame: to clear her father’s name and right the wrongs done to her family.

"The first thing I did after returning was save a life. The last thing I’ll do... is take revenge."

Xiao Jingheng, heir to the Prince of Zhennan, is the capital’s most notorious playboy, fond of cockfighting and horse racing, charming and carefree. No one knows what keen edge and deep calculations lie beneath his carefree facade.

A seemingly chance act of saving his life binds their fates together.

"Miss Shen, you saved my life. I ought to repay you by giving you myself."

"You jest, Heir. The fee is ten taels, and I don’t extend credit."

She thinks he really is a wastrel; he thinks she is merely a physician. Neither knows that the silver needles in her hands can determine life and death, or become blades, nor that behind his seemingly frivolous life, he is moving pieces on a chessboard.
