The Noble Consort Just Wants to Be a Layabout

Yan Qinghuan, a modern office worker who knows Empresses in the Palace inside out, wakes up in an old-school palace intrigue novel as a vicious consort who starts at the top and is doomed to die a horrible death. Faced with the scheming white-lotus heroine, concubines who hide daggers behind their smiles, a deeply calculating emperor, and a chancellor father who sees her as a pawn, Yan Qinghuan clings to her [Lie Flat and Stay Alive System] and firmly chooses to lie flat.

The System’s motto: Keep your head down, don’t make waves, and survive to the end!

Compete for the emperor’s favor? She’d rather figure out how to make osmanthus cakes taste better.

Fight in the palace? She’d rather give the koi in the imperial garden a workout routine.

While everyone expects her to stir up trouble, she racks up points in the harem with “shame and repentance,” “freedom from worldly desires,” and “obedience to the rules.”

But just when she wants to lie flat, someone comes along to ruin her peace.

The original heroine sets her up? No problem, enjoy the System’s “Bad Luck Transfer.”

Her family pressures her to fight for power? She turns around and presents the emperor with her “Wellness Guide to Lying Flat.”

When all she wants is to coast on the edge of the Cold Palace, she unexpectedly wins the attention of a scheming emperor, the secret protection of a ruthless matron, and the devoted friendship of a concubine no one ever notices...

Yan Qinghuan: “Your Majesty, I really just want to be a lazy fish.”

Murong Yuan corners her as she tries to sneak out of the palace, his gaze dangerous. “My beloved consort, every moment you spend lying flat makes me feel that... the empire has lost its luster and life has become unbearably dull.”
