Synopsis of Interstellar Pathogen
In 2150, humanity has conquered disease, only to face an even greater challenge on a cosmic scale.
Astrophysicist Lin Mo discovers that an unknown gravitational source is shifting Earth's orbit, triggering a chain reaction of global climate collapse. At the same time, microbiologist Irina Volonova discovers a life form not of this Earth beneath the Antarctic ice: the “interstellar pathogen.” It spreads on the dust of periodically arriving comets. Infection is not fatal, but it completely disrupts an organism's perception of time.
The two seemingly unrelated crises pulse at exactly the same frequency. Forced to join forces, Lin Mo and Irina lead a fractured human society, with coordinator Carlos brokering negotiations, in a race against the laws of the universe: building an array of gravity regulators at the Lagrange points to stabilize Earth, while deciphering the interstellar code hidden behind the pathogen.
In the end, they discover this is no malicious attack, but a “planetary adaptability test” that an ancient cosmic civilization has been conducting for tens of thousands of years. Humanity must choose: forcibly “cure” itself to pass the test, or risk accepting an alien logic of life and making a painful evolutionary leap?
