The Peach Blossom Island Lord's Cold and Proud Wife

“The woman I want, Huang Yaoshi, will stay by my side for life, even if I have to keep her prisoner.”

Amid the misty rain of Taihu Lake and the music drifting from pleasure boats, Feng Heng, the talented daughter of the Feng family, catches the eye of Huang Yaoshi, the renowned Eastern Heretic, and he declares that she will be his wife. He storms into her world like a raging gale, taking her to the secluded Peach Blossom Island with a domineering force she cannot resist.

The island is ablaze with peach blossoms and protected by formidable formations. He is its lofty master, a peerless martial artist with an aloof temperament who despises all worldly conventions. Yet for her alone, he develops an obsessive possessiveness. She is the caged songbird he keeps in the jade tower, the light that suddenly enters his cold world.

He teaches her the art of Qimen Dunjia and lets her read rare, unique texts, yet turns cold and cutting whenever she tries to cross a boundary. When she is in danger, he stands by and watches as a test. When she is hurt, he tends to her himself in the dead of night, scolding, “Who gave you permission to get hurt?” His love is protection backed by power, molten lava beneath a sheet of ice: domineering, conflicted, and suffocating.

From her initial fear and resistance to gradually seeing the loneliness and scars beneath his proud mask, Feng Heng’s perceptive, intelligent heart ultimately sinks into this unequal love. She painstakingly transcribes the martial world’s supreme treasure, the Nine Yin Manual, for him, exhausting her mind and strength. She gives birth to their daughter, Huang Rong, but is left utterly spent.

As the peach blossoms fall, she leaves him with one last sentence in his arms: “Yaoshi, I... don’t regret it...”

What she does not know is that her death takes with it the only warmth the Eastern Heretic will ever know. From then on, the blue sea surges and the peach blossoms bloom as before, while that desolate figure in white guards his memories, driven mad with loneliness for the rest of his life.
