The Gentleman Sword of Smiling Proud Wanderer

A modern book lover unexpectedly transmigrates into The Smiling, Proud Wanderer as Yue Buqun, the Huashan Sect leader facing a crisis. With the rift left by the conflict between the Sword and Qi factions, Zuo Lengchan's ambition to unite the Five Mountains, and the original story's tragic destiny of “castrating oneself to practice the sword” looming over him, he casts aside crooked notions and makes saving Huashan his top priority.

Knowing that a turning point lies hidden in the cave on the Cliff of Reflection, he visits it three times and wins Feng Qingyang over with his sincerity and modern insights into swordsmanship. He successfully persuades the legendary Sword faction master to emerge from hiding and guard Huashan from behind the scenes, stabilizing the sect's foundations. He then revises the sect rules to combine the strengths of the Sword and Qi factions, strengthens his disciples, calmly foils Feng Buping's challenge, and begins to resolve the sect's internal troubles.

While dealing with pressure from the Songshan Sect and the tragedy of Liu Zhengfeng, he notices his daughter Yue Lingshan's feelings for Linghu Chong. He creates opportunities and offers guidance to the pair, ultimately bringing about their engagement and uniting the sect through their marriage. At the Medicine King Temple battle, he joins forces with Feng Qingyang and Ning Zhongze, repelling their enemies with a combination of sword and qi techniques and the Nine Swords of Dugu, allowing Huashan's strength to begin shining through.

Later, he leads Huashan to the Songshan alliance gathering, exposes Zuo Lengchan's plot at the Fengchan Terrace, and wins over the assembled heroes with his mastery of the Nine Swords of Dugu combined with Purple Mist Art, becoming the new leader of the Five Mountains. He spearheads reforms among the Five Mountains and welcomes talent from the Sword faction. He also helps Lin Pingzhi avenge himself, then destroys the Evil-Repelling Sword Manual to prevent its corrupt techniques from causing harm. When Ren Woxing leads the Demon Cult in bringing pressure to bear, Yue unites his fellow members of the Five Mountains to fight the common enemy, ultimately crushing their ambitions and restoring peace to the martial world.

In his later years, he passes leadership to Linghu Chong and Yue Lingshan, then retires with Ning Zhongze to the Cliff of Reflection. The label “Hypocrite” that once defined him is completely rewritten. He leaves his own legend in the chronicles of The Smiling, Proud Wanderer, remembered by the true name of “Gentleman Sword.”
