I Led the Chinese National Team to World Cup Glory

A boy watches the national team suffer a crushing defeat on TV, picks up a battered, deflated soccer ball, and heads to an empty lot by a cement factory. From that moment on, an unknown seed begins to sprout between the gravel on the map of Chinese soccer. Facing his father's opposition, his friends' departures, and the torment of injuries, Lin Yuan tends to that weathered brick wall, playing his way from city tournaments to youth training camps and the national U-17 team, all the way to the world stage. This is a twofold comeback, both personal and generational. When the boy finally steps onto the World Cup pitch, he carries more than the soccer dreams of an entire nation. He also carries the youth of every Chinese kid who once ran alone through barren ground.
