The Super-Tough Master Sergeant First Class

[No System + Hard-Core Military Engineering + Passionate Growth]

In 2086, Lin Tianyu, a nationally acclaimed researcher from the Dragon Kingdom, died in a temporal rift while saving his team. When he opened his eyes again, he had transmigrated into 1958 and become an eighteen-year-old rebellious college student with the same name, who had drunk himself to death to avoid military service.

Facing a belt-wielding army commander of a father and the contemptuous looks of a family full of top students who saw him as a good-for-nothing, Lin Tianyu rubbed his backside and grinned. “Join the army? Sure.”

He thought he had simply been given another chance at life, but then he discovered that his consciousness, tempered by the passage through time, was causing his body to undergo an “unscientific” evolution...

At boot camp, he ran the entire company of veterans until they threw up, and left the military academy instructors stumped with his theoretical knowledge. Just as his superiors were celebrating their discovery of a budding “warrior king,” the kid kept sneaking into the repair shop, frowning at a Type 56 semi-automatic rifle. “The firing pin’s lifespan... We can improve it.”

From improving a single bullet to drawing up an “extended-range rocket” blueprint that sent the old experts’ blood pressure soaring; from establishing the first experimental special operations squad to sending the “Starry Sky Express,” which would lay the foundations of a great power, soaring into the sky...

He solved problems this era could not understand and completed one “impossible” mission after another. Yet the rank on his shoulder stubbornly remained “senior sergeant,” because his goal was to become the Dragon Kingdom’s first and greatest senior master sergeant after 1988.

And so, a strange sight became common in the military: whether a general or a marshal, everyone would snap to attention and salute first when they saw that “old squad leader,” who always grinned and wore the rank of senior sergeant.

“Engineer Lin, what do you think of this new equipment...”

“Call me Squad Leader.”

“...Yes! Squad Leader Lin, what are we going to build next?”
