The Village Belle, a Capable Woman

Synopsis of The Capable Village Beauty

Widow Hu Lianzhi returns to her hometown with her young son and puts down roots in Waniwu Village. She champions ecological farming to help the village prosper, but the villagers repeatedly grow suspicious of and make things difficult for Song Jia, who came with her. The bronze bell at the ancient Yi shrine rings without cause, an inherited Yi embroidery handkerchief turns red in the dead of night, and children suffer one nightmare after another. One strange event after another throws the village into panic, and all fingers point at Hu Lianzhi.

As the investigation deepens, the secret of the Yi embroidery handkerchief and Song Jia’s quest to find a hidden treasure and clear his grandfather’s name gradually come to light. The truth behind Hu Lianzhi’s husband falling off a cliff years ago is also revealed: it was all part of a plot by an antiquities-smuggling ring.

Hu Lianzhi and Song Jia join forces, rally the villagers, and strike back with an ambush. They expose the mastermind and protect the village’s hidden treasure, while also leading the villagers in developing eco-friendly industries and cultural tourism. Through hardship, the two gradually fall for each other, and finally marry amid the joyous songs of the Torch Festival, witnessing Waniwu Village’s peaceful new beginning.
