Journey to the West: I Started Out as a Leopard Demon, What Do I Do?

After waking up, Lin Xiao finds himself as a miserable cannon-fodder character on the Journey to the West, a leopard demon with barely any lines: the Great King of Nanshan, lord of the Linked Caves of Zheyue on Hidden Mist Mountain.

Seeing the adoring looks in the little demons’ eyes and thinking of Sun Wukong and his fellow disciples, who will soon come knocking, Lin Xiao feels that a demon’s life is utterly bleak.

[Ding! The Host’s powerful will to survive has been detected. The “Karmic Fate Alteration System” is now active!]

[You studied the original Journey to the West and saw that your death was inevitable. In despair, you altered your first thread of karma: Thirty-Six Strategies for Staying Alive: Start by Admitting Defeat.]

[You were forced to fight Zhu Bajie for three moves and survived. The System determines that you have changed the ending in which you are “killed by a rake.” Reward: Fragmentary Scroll of Primordial Demon Script.]

[You deciphered the fragments and combined them with the scientific thinking of your previous life. To your surprise, you deduced the Astral Guidance Art and opened a miniature sea of stars in your dantian!]

Cultivating immortality or cultivating as a demon: both are paths to transcendence.

After joining a surviving branch of the Jie Sect, Lin Xiao becomes the last true demon disciple in the age of declining cultivation.

The great calamity rises again. Immortals and Buddhas are the players, and all living beings are the game board.

Watch as this leopard demon, who was supposed to die from a single blow, alters karma and steals the secrets of heaven. In this game played by the gods and Buddhas of the heavens, he will not merely survive as a piece on the board: step by step, he will become the one who moves the pieces, the Demon Emperor!
