I Was a Sent-Down Youth in the Great Northern Wilderness

On the black soil of the Great Northern Wilderness in Heilongjiang, a generation of educated youths sent to the borderlands shouldered their packs and put down roots in the wilderness. This is a true story of educated youths from that era. At first, they joined the Heilongjiang Production and Construction Corps to reclaim the land, defend the border, and protect the frontier. After the corps was reorganized and disbanded, they moved to state-owned farms, where they continued to live and work. This story faithfully recreates that special era from beginning to end, tracing the lives of young people sent to the borderlands, from the corps to the farms. It is a tale of hard labor, communal life, and the everyday warmth of human existence. If you enjoy stories about educated youths from that era and want to read true accounts of life in the Great Northern Wilderness corps and farms, settle in and enjoy.
