The Fate Alterer

Shen Yan, an intern at the Municipal Folklore Archives, accidentally awakens the blank ancient book inherited by his family, The Register of All Living Beings, and gains the ability to glimpse the fates predetermined for everyone. When a colleague dies exactly as foretold, he realizes that the fortunes and calamities of all people are controlled by the hidden organization, the Fate Pavilion.

As a rare person whose fate contains a gap, Shen Yan holds the chance to alter the Book of Fate, but must face the piercing pain of karmic backlash. He joins forces with Lin Xia, a restorer of folkloric artifacts, using ancient methods such as paper effigy doubles and contracts written in rainwater to turn the tables. On his quest to save the innocent, he not only uncovers the truth behind his parents' disappearance, but must also oppose Gu Changgeng, the Fate Pavilion's master, who seeks to determine the world's order through the Book of Fate.

A battle against fate begins.
