Only You, Within Reach

A fateful encounter between an iceberg and a ray of sunshine. Shi Jingchen is a gentle, jade-like top-tier star, kind to the whole world but showing his claws to just one person. Lin Xi is an aloof, proud king of the stage who looks down on everyone, yet listens only to him. A collaboration brings their parallel lives crashing together. On set, he instinctively protects him; late at night, he knocks on his door just to rehearse their lines. From conflict to understanding, from indifference to dependence, two hearts certain they are “absolutely straight” quietly begin to change with every moment they draw closer. But the more fiercely their love surges, the deeper their fear becomes. Family pressure, society's judgment, and the precipice of their careers force them to retreat just after admitting their feelings. He says, “Let's take a break for now.” The other replies, “I'll wait for you.” Their six months apart bring the glory of each reaching the top, but also the desolation of living like the walking dead. Then an unexpected car accident tears away every last pretense. “I don't want anything anymore. I just want you here.” Their tightly clasped hands can no longer be hidden from the cameras. Abuse and loss come one after another, and they fall from the clouds, huddling together for warmth in a cramped apartment. They use their entire savings to pay an enormous breach-of-contract penalty, then start over from scratch, gradually winning back their dignity with their work and their sincerity. At last, in front of tens of thousands at a concert, he drops to one knee. “Will you let me spend the next fifty years by your side?” Love is instinct; you are a choice. From “good buddies” to “I love you,” their journey is full of highs and lows, life and death. But in the end, only you are within reach, and love alone cannot be defeated.
