During the War of Resistance, the black soil of Northeast China lies under the shadow of the Japanese army’s secret units. After being captured, anti-Japanese resistance scout Chen Mo is drawn into a joint experiment conducted by the 516 Chemical Warfare Unit and the 731 Biological Warfare Unit. He witnesses countless compatriots suffer the horrifying fate of becoming “maruta.” Struggling to escape from a fog-shrouded hell, he unexpectedly stumbles upon a network linking several criminal units, including the 659th and 526th.
