Laid Off from the Start: I Win by Coasting on My Son’s Inner Thoughts

After losing his job and reaching a dead end, Chen Shi suddenly gains the ability to hear his son’s thoughts.

From then on, his son’s “spoilers” guide him through life:

“That red monkey in the waste-paper pile is worth two apartments.”

“That stone used to weigh down the accounts at the swindler’s shop can buy an entire street.”

“Dad, at next month’s Hong Kong auction, that painting will be worth ten times as much.”

While his relatives are still mocking him for scavenging, Chen Shi has already bought an entire apartment building by “taking his son’s advice.”

When the big shots on Antique Street set a trap for him, he turns the tables and strips them of their fortunes using “junk” his son pointed out.

Years later, when a reporter asks him the secret to his success, Chen Shi grins at his son and says:

“What secret? My son points the way, and I just walk with my eyes closed.”
