Great Ming: I Asked You to Ghostwrite a Family Letter, So Why Did You Write the Three Kingdoms?

[Transmigration + History + Plagiarist Writer + Lighthearted Comedy + Everyone Misunderstands Him]

Luo Heng transmigrates to the Hongzhi era of the Ming Dynasty and becomes an impoverished scholar in Suzhou, with nothing but bare walls at home.

To make a living, Luo Heng decides to return to his old trade and adopts the pen name Luo Guanzhong.

And so, the Ming Dynasty’s whole vibe changes.

The Romance of the Three Kingdoms appears out of nowhere:

The Minister of War exclaims, “This is the ultimate military scripture! The Empty Fort Strategy has great potential!”

Emperor Hongzhi slaps the table: “If only I had Zhuge Kongming, the Tartars would be no cause for concern! Luo is a man of great talent. Summon him to the capital at once!”

Then Water Margin takes the streets by storm:

Outlaws weep bitterly: “Brother! Let’s rebel! Mr. Luo is our Song Jiang!”

The commander of the Embroidered Uniform Guard breaks into a cold sweat: “Investigate! Quickly! Is this Luo Heng planning a rebellion? Why does he write as if it’s all real?”

Then Journey to the West, Dream of the Red Chamber, and The Legend of the Condor Heroes follow one after another:

The leader of the Daoist sects declares, “The Great Dao shines through Mr. Luo’s writing!”

A famous courtesan of Jiangnan sighs, “It’s not his looks, but his charm that captivates me. I only wish to see Young Master Luo once!”

Years later, Luo Heng stands atop the Forbidden City, looking down at the civil and military officials kneeling all around him, and helplessly spreads his hands:

“Your Majesty, I really am just a novelist. I’m no living sage!”

The emperor replies, “My dear subject, there’s no need to be modest. Have you updated Investiture of the Gods yet? I’ve already sent my razor blades to your residence!”
