I Found a Reconnaissance Drone in the Mountains, and Earned a Place in the Family Genealogy

[1980s setting + mountain hunting and foraging + cutting-edge technology + handing discoveries over to the state + one heroine]

Reborn in the Greater Khingan Mountains in 1982, Lin Jianguo looks at the drafty mud-brick house and his thin, sallow younger siblings, then awakens the talent “Analysis of All Things.”

Not only can he sense the tracks of prey, he can also see the internal structure of anything and reverse-engineer it!

With the mountains sealed by heavy snow, everyone else goes hunting just to get something to eat.

But when Lin Jianguo heads into the mountains, things take a strange turn:

Digging for medicinal herbs? No, this plant’s gene sequence could yield a new antibiotic!

Scavenging scrap metal? No, this wreckage contains the Eagle’s latest gyroscope technology!

Hunting wild boar? No, the fibers in this boar’s hide are perfect for testing a new bulletproof vest!

Then one day, Lin Jianguo walks out of the mountains, dragging a hand-built micro-engine behind him.

The nation’s chief engineer is stunned: “I sent you out to hunt and feed your family. What’s this fifth-generation fighter engine doing here?”

Lin Jianguo gives an honest smile. “I wanted to shoot down some birds, so I made the engine just a little more powerful.”

From then on, a legend takes root in the Greater Khingan Mountains.

Whenever he heads into the mountains, the nation’s technology makes a breakthrough, and the Eagle trembles!
