Mysteries of Misty Qingchuan

The spring rain falls without pause, soaking the flagstone streets of Qingchuan Town and softening the red-lacquered lintel of the Jinxiu Workshop on the western side of town. Su Wanqing, the woman who runs Su's Bookshop, is an unassuming woman who belongs among the stacks of old books. But a bloodstained handkerchief embroidered with winding lotus vines and a strand of indigo thread unique to the Shen family's dyehouse draw her into the mystery of the disappearance of Shen Wanshan, the dyehouse owner.

The county authorities have ruled it an accidental drowning, but Su Wanqing sees holes everywhere: the Qingchuan map Shen Wanshan hurriedly tried to buy at dusk, the crooked mark of the character for "ten" carved into a dye vat, the disorderly boot prints on the floor of the inner room, and the ashes of account books deliberately burned... Every clue points to a carefully planned murder.

The ancient town, shrouded in rain and mist, harbors unspeakable secrets. The seemingly peaceful neighbors each conceal their own schemes. A woman with no official post or authority relies on nothing but her pen and her eyes to tease out the truth from the smallest clues. As the layers of fog lift, the bloodshed at the dyehouse reveals an even more deeply buried history.

The rain still falls over Qingchuan. Holding her umbrella, Su Wanqing presses deeper into this strange case hidden by rain and mist, determined to uncover the truth concealed within.
