A Record of Japan's War Crimes Around the World

After the Meiji Restoration, Japan first invaded China’s Taiwan in 1874 and continued expanding for more than 70 years, until its defeat and surrender in 1945. Its forces trampled across 15 countries and regions in the Asia-Pacific, causing more than 45 million casualties, including the dead, wounded, and missing. Around 20 million people were killed, not counting Japanese soldiers who died in combat. Japan committed countless wartime atrocities in China and across Asia.
