A Family of Villains: I’m the Capital’s Number One Young Scoundrel

[A Cast of Villains + Fighting Evil with Evil + Political Schemes and Twists + Ensemble Power Fantasy] In the Great Qian Dynasty, every member of the Gu family was a “cancer on the nation.” Their father was the “empire’s number-one corrupt official,” who took a cut from everything. Their mother was a “loan-shark demon” who cared only for profit. Their eldest brother was a “mad-dog imperial guard” who obeyed only the emperor’s orders. Their second sister was a “brothel madam” who trafficked in sex and entertainment. Their youngest sister was a “deadly witch” who toyed with poison. And I, Gu Jius, was the most arrogant and overbearing “number-one young villain” in the capital, hated by everyone and fit only to be executed. The people despised us, and the upright officials impeached us. But who knew that this infamous reputation was merely the only disguise we had to protect ourselves from imperial suspicion and the great clans’ oppression? When the chancellor, who preached benevolence and morality, secretly sold out the country, and the emperor, who claimed to be wise, treated his subjects like pigs and dogs, my Gu family stopped pretending! We embezzled to raise a battle-hardened private army that answered only to the Gu family. We lent money to weave a web of spies spanning the court and the land, with the powerful caught in our grip. We committed evil to tear away the world’s hypocritical mask of morality. If upright officials could not survive, then I, Gu Jius, would lead this whole family of villains and become a peerless schemer who fought evil with evil and turned the world upside down. “The day I force my way into the palace and take the throne will be the day this corrupt world is remade!”
