After I Died, the Whole School Started to Forget Me

“Don’t say yes to Shen An! He’s lying to you!”

On my first day at my new school, I received two text messages at once.

One was from me seven days in the future, and the other from me seven years in the future.

Both of them were screaming at me to stay away from a man named Shen An.

They said he would make me fall in love with him, then have me die in his place.

But when the time police pinned me against a wall and called me the sole suspect in a string of time-travel murders,

only Shen An stood in front of me, wiping away my tears.

“What are you afraid of? They don’t have enough evidence. They can only hold you for 59 minutes.”

“What happens after 59 minutes?” I asked, trembling.

He smiled, revealing two sharp canine teeth.

“After 59 minutes, you’ll have time to decide: will you treat me as the ransom for your release, or as your accomplice?”

Later, inside the pocket watch he never let out of his sight, I found twelve postmortem photos of myself.

Each had the same words on the back: “Loop N: failure. She died because she loved me.”

And in the ongoing thirteenth loop, he had added a new line:

“This time, I’ll be the one who kills a god for love of her.”
