Urban Paranormal Case Unit: The Tianshi Mansion Heir Takes Action

The sound of Cantonese opera drifting through Liwan Plaza late at night, eerie lights flickering in an unfinished Shenzhen tower, a bride in red appearing on Haizhu Bridge on a rainy night... Each of these urban legends hides a truth unknown to the public.

Qian Long is a graduate student in history and the thirty-eighth-generation successor of the Celestial Masters' Mansion. He thinks his calling is to interpret ancient texts, until he's recruited by a mysterious agency called the Paranormal Investigation Bureau. Here, the supernatural isn't mere folklore: it's a “special incident” that must be formally investigated.

His partner is Mao Xiaojun, a veteran of the Maoshan sect haunted by psychological trauma. Their consultant is Ma Xiaoyan, an heir to a clan of exorcist dragon slayers. Their principles are simple: slay malicious ghosts, guide innocent spirits to rest, and hand over cases involving crimes to the police.

But as their investigations deepen, they discover that supernatural incidents scattered throughout Guangdong are being linked together by an unseen hand to form an ancient “Seven-Star Evil-Shifting Formation.” And at its center lies an ancient ferocious beast that devours the dreams of an entire city: the Dream-Eating Tapir.

When the Bureau director's secret to eternal life is exposed and a trusted guide reveals another side of himself, Qian Long must choose: follow his ancestral teachings and protect the mortal world, or break the rules and open the secret file that must never be opened?
