The Eternal End of the Mushroom Dream

In an age when giant glowing mushroom forests cover the world, all of humanity shares dreams through a mycelial network. Silas Vale, a top dream architect, has an enviable gift of immortality, yet after centuries of repetition, he has grown tired of eternity. The only thing he yearns for is a way to end his own consciousness. When an uncontrollable recurring dream, one capable of taking root in reality, assails him, he discovers that he has been summoned by the ancient, rotting heart of a tree. This tree heart is a remnant of the previous civilization's resistance to the Mother Dream, a collective unconscious that seeks to devour every individual consciousness and merge them into a single hive mind. In pursuit of his own final rest, Silas must descend into the abyss of dreams, only to discover that the answer he seeks concerns the fate of civilization itself: will it preserve the freedom to live and die as individuals, or fall into eternal assimilation? He must use a lifetime's worth of dreamcraft to weave the ultimate dream, one that will make all of humanity “wake up” and “forget.” The price is the true ending he has long dreamed of.
