The Shepherd of Clouds: Fall from Heaven

In a silk-punk world where silk, wooden kites, and sky-sails float above the clouds, the herdsman Lan spends his days tending colossal cloud whales, measuring his solitude in the silent heights. He longs to leave some trace of his existence amid the vast machinery and ancient clan traditions. Then one day, he sees the sky stained an eerie green that only he can perceive, and discovers that the heavens are peeling away in shards like glass, falling toward the earth. With a fragment engraved with an unknown “True Name” in hand, Lan is forced to set out in search of answers. He will uncover the terrifying truth: that the “sky” is an experimental facility imprisoning a civilization, and that “True Names” are low-level control code. Then he must face the ultimate choice: call upon the master-control True Name to repair a false but peaceful cage, or make himself the kindling and ignite a doomed dawn of freedom that may be the only real one.
