The Mountain God's Caged Bird

[Two male leads + both devoted and faithful + a once-in-a-lifetime love + sweet romance…] Lin Yan (30) is Peking University's youngest doctoral supervisor. While conducting geological research deep in the mountains of southwest China, he is separated from his team by a rainstorm and landslide, then falls unconscious with serious injuries. A Li (20) is a young Miao man who gathers medicinal herbs. He rescues the badly injured Lin Yan, takes him back to his village, and carefully nurses him back to health. The vast wealth of knowledge from beyond the mountains amazes A Li, while Lin Yan is captivated by A Li's sincerity and unique worldview. They embrace beside streams and whisper together in bamboo houses. Their passionate love is accompanied by murmured words in the Miao language, while Lin Yan's research unexpectedly reveals a link between the village's geological structure and an ancient legend. Yet the Miao village's hostility toward “outsiders” gradually becomes clear, and the taboo against “leaving” looms over them. The sadness in A Li's eyes grows heavier by the day. Strict clan rules surrounding the sacrificial rites trap their love in a remote mountain wilderness. In the end, even their vows cannot overcome the chasm fate has placed between them.
